Our debit card processor, Transfund, is migrating to a new card transaction processor, for ease of use and increased security.  Security Bank is scheduled to convert on August 17, 2020 between 3:00 AM and 8:00 AM.  During this migration phase, any transaction attempted with a Security Bank debit card will not be processed. 

The My Mobile Money App used to monitor debit card transactions will no longer be accessible as of August 17, 2020.  It will be replaced with a new card transaction monitoring application: SecurLOCK Equip, with additional dynamic features.  It is available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play Store.  You will need to download the SecurLock Equip app and re-enroll your card(s) on or after August 17th.  A new benefit of the SecurLock Equip app is that it will provide a 2-way texting alert for possible fraudulent transactions.

As we get closer to the conversion date, we will email enrollment instructions for SecurLock Equip to our current My Mobile Money App users as well as put them on this page.  If you are not a current My Mobile Money App user and would like instructions emailed to you, please email us at [email protected].

Make debit card purchases more securely than before. All debit cards we issue now include an EMV chip — a microchip that increases the security of your purchases when you use your card at EMV chip-enabled terminals.

More about EMV chip technology:

“EMV” stands for “EuroPay, MasterCard®, Visa®.” Debit cards with an EMV chip use cutting-edge technology to keep your transactions more safe. The technology originated in Europe and is already in use around the world. It’s been key in fighting the rise of fraud, and has been adopted by the major credit card issuers.

How the EMV chip makes your purchases more secure:

When you make a transaction using the EMV chip on your card, a unique code is generated for that purchase. The chip does not reveal any sensitive information, but instead generates a code for the transaction that cannot be re-used. This makes each transaction unique, and adds another layer of protection that makes it more difficult for fraudsters to gather and use your card information.

How to use your card with an EMV chip:

Making more secure purchases is easy:

  1. First make sure that you’re at a chip-enabled terminal when making a purchase.
  1. Insert the chip end of the card into the terminal, facing up.
  2. Sign your name or enter your PIN as you would with any other debit card purchase.

That’s all there is to it! Just make sure to remove your card after the transaction is complete. 

You can still use your debit card by swiping it.

Some merchants do not yet offer chip-enabled terminals  — in which case, you can still use your debit card the way you have previously, using the magnetic strip.

Be aware, however, that you won’t enjoy the enhanced security features of the EMV chip card by swiping it and using the magnetic strip. It’s always more secure to use your EMV chip to make purchases.
